deleating the seams between the door jam and the floor???

Hey guys,

I have picked up a new cab to throw into my truck and when i pulled the carpet and that flimsy aluminum trim i found some pretty flaky rust caught behind the weather stripping seam.

after i fix everything i was thinking about grinding that seam right off so that any water will run out right under the door.

do you think it would be possible to relocate the weather stripping onto the bottom of the door? I know that it sounds a bit crazy but this truck is going to see some action off road and it just doesn't seem right to fix the rust but not resolve the original problem.

i will try to snap some photos tomorrow.
