One other idea is this: I have a 1979 305 engine w/dualjet 210 (worst hp rating ever at 130)...I was thinking of swapping to vortec heads w/fuel injection. What could I get outta that setup if 350 vortec heads work on the 305 bore? I'm thinking at least 250-280 hp w/gobs of torque. Or would a 283 crank work w/the 305 journals? What would it end up in cu in size?
I LOVED my 283/ bored to 291 cid engine in my 66. With a three on the tree and 4.10 gears it was A LOT of fun to twist up. Just make sure youve got a trans that is easily shiftable a bolt in the harmonic dampner and the right rear gears and it should be a real fun piece.
