Found a 1968 SWB....

I have been looking to buy a 67-72 SWB and came across a 1968 SWB fleetside GMC with 327 auto on the floor(B&M shifter) for sale. He wants 7K for it but may be negotiable.
It has a wood bed that is weathered and starting to rot, fuel tank relocated, the frame has been c-notched with reverse spring kit in back and lowering springs up front. It has 20 inch five spoke Boss wheels with front discs with rear drums. It has some rust coming in on the passenger side rocker area, the truck runs but the engine is tired and it will need a paint job. Does the price sound good?

How can I tell if this is an original 68 GMC SWB fleetside?
How can I tell if the engine is original? (really doesnt matter too much to me)

Is there anything I should be looking at in particular before buying this year, make and model of truck?
