Porterbuilt C Notch question

I am seriously considering notching my 69. Just curious, how much room will the notch add? I have 6" drop springs right now and the axle tube is really close to the frame. (3" or so maybe?) Would I have enough room to add another 1" drop block on top of the arms? What is the depth of the bolt in notch? Any advise or lessons learned about measuring before I cut? I have heard to round off the corners of the cuts to keep the metal from cracking .. just things you guys might know to do. I have never installed one. I'm not afraid to, just looking for insight before I do it. Thanks.
