Proper way to remove door mouldings?

I disassembled and removed my door(s) yesterday, but I'm not sure how to get the upper chrome molding off. There's a screw at the front and a nut at the back, but the rest is largely inaccessible (the studs push into an expanding retainer).

I assume there's either a special way to slide or rotate the trim or a special tool involved, but don't want to wreck my trim trying to figure it out. I searched the forums but didn't find any good description (perhaps searching for the wrong terms).

So, can someone tell me how to safely get it off?

Thanks!
