replace engine oil cooling hoses with bulk hose + clamp?

Lines on factory engine oil cooler lines are leaking like a sieve at the original clamp locations.

I've found posts online of people cutting off the original crimp sleeve and replaced the line with oil cooler hose + worm gear clamps.

Anyone here done it?

I'm thinking of trying but worried about the worm gear clamp + hose coming off. With the OEM sleeve the sleeve itself is attached to the hard line and cannot be pulled off. So the hose is being held by the tubing barbs and the outer sleeve.
