I always use a cross strap configuration. I don't have a suspended race car anymore, but when I was racing Super Gas, I strapped down the front frame to compress the springs. I welded attachment points on my rearend housing for my rear straps, and I used an inflatable Chassis Saver under the rear crossmember to reduce wear and tear on my shocks/springs.
