Engine/Carb ID?

Just bought a 1980 Big 10 yesterday. Haven't picked it up, need to make a second trip with someone so I can drive it back next weekend.

But when I test drove it, the owner warned me about killing the engine when stopping too fast, sure enough, as soon as I braked and turned left it killed the engine. I'm assuming the float needs to be adjusted on the carb.

The owner says the engine in it came out of a 76-78 1 ton dually, but didn't know much about it, including size (either a 235 or 250?) and carburetor type. Anyone here want to venture a guess, would like to know so if I need to adjust the floats on the 3 hour ride home I can.
