Question - Saddle Gas Tank In a 70 C10?

Hey guys!

I have been wanting to for a while relocate the gas tank from the cab to under the bed, however, putting it where the spare tire goes isn't an option, I want to use my truck like a truck, and that means the spare needs to be stored in the proper place. I have found an 86 C10 gas tank, it is a saddle tank. from what I can tell, it appears like it would work on my frame (by using the 86 factory straps & boring mounting holes into my frame, etc...). I also plan on getting the necessary items to install a door in the side of the bed, like most modern trucks. Has anyone attempted this? Does anyone know if this is viable?

All I have been able to find involves putting the tank in the rear of the bed, that's just not appealing to me.

Thanks for any help!

Matt
