1968 c10 died

1968 c10. Died on my son Wednesday, got it home and the fuel bowls empty. I tought fuel pump, replace with a new acdelco from summit racing, now Sunday truck dies again. Replaced the fuel filter as well.
One thing the has me concern the fuel line coming from the tank to the fuel pump it was dry. Could it be a plugged gas pick up it has a 21 gallon gas tank from brothers(blazer) 4 years old
any ideas could it just be another bad pump
