Power Steering hose question

So i changed out my power steering gear a few weeks back with a rebuilt unit. Of course it had the adapter fittings on it as my hose is stock 72 K10.

My junkyard power steering pump locked up yesterday. Thankfully it had a 90 day warranty. So i picked up a replacement today and while installing it I had a thought. I am using the inverted flare to O-ring adapter on the steering gear and on the pump why can't I just get a square body hose and do away with these as I need a new hose anyway. Has anyone ever used one..? What year fits best? Thanks guys.
