What do you do when...

Your smog pump locks up and they aren't available and your state still requires one to be on the vehicle?

You remove it and tear it apart to see what is wrong.




Then you pull out all the bad parts and put the case back together and reinstall it.




I tried to work with the state on different options, including retrofitting an electric pump and they said no way, that it has to be a stock pump. That is totally ridiculous as all it does is pump air and it shouldn't matter how it does it. Guy told me to start calling wrecking yards.

One local auto parts said they could get it rebuilt through Cardone. I contacted them and sent pics of the inside and the damage and they said mine was scrap.

Time to start looking at classic car insurance because that will make me smog exempt. Now I just need to find classic insurance that will let me drive it and tow with it.
