1968 Rear Drum Backing Plate Damage
Hello all,
This is my first post thought I've lurked for a long time. Any help would be appreciated! I was doing a brake job on my new to me 1968 c1500 as the rear right squealed when braking. After getting in there and replacing the shoes I notice the shoes were not sitting right. The backing plate seems to be damaged at a lower contact point (probably causing the squealing). My question is does anyone have advise regarding available two piece backing plates or filling damage with weld and grinding smooth? I ask because I really don't want to have to pull the axle (frankly because it intimidates me). Any advise or direction will be greatly appreciated. I can post pictures if requested. Thank you in advance! |
