I forgot to mention that I shopped for a throttle cable that was slightly longer jacket and cable. I first cut the pedal end of the cable off and removed it from the jacket. I cut the jacket near one of the fittings, then I drilled out the plastic and wire from the fitting. It's best to cut the jacket with a high speed cutting wheel. You could use a plastic epoxy to re-join the jacket to the fitting. I fabricated my own crimper out of two pieces of 1/4" steel. I clamped them together and drilled a hole at the seam slightly smaller than the crimp end, I used another piece of steel clamped to both pieces to hold them together, and then I used a press to do the crimping. There's videos on YouTube that show how other's have done it.
