Hello

Hi all, new member with 1971 C10/20.

I’ve been lurking for a while now - excellent information here!
My newly purchased pickup is a C20 that’s been converted to a short bed. Based on what I’ve read here, that was done well. The truck doesn’t have much rust, all the most typical places are clean. Floorboards are in great shape, and as near as I can tell bed, fenders and hood are new metal.
Runs well! It was advertised as a 383, but could be a 305-350. In time plan to install a mild 350. The transmission is a 700R4, which works, but will need some attention.
Now the bad. Previous owner installed a Viper alarm with electric locks and windows. I plan to revert to stock. The wiring is in shambles with tons of poorly done connections ranging from wire taps, crimps, wire nuts etc. the battery was relocated under the bed…ah well I’m sure you guys get the idea.
Working now to get basics working, electric fans were off due to a bad temp sending unit. Brake lights and headlights work but nothing else.
Looking forward to getting the basics working with the existing wiring. In longer term, wiring harness replacement is top of the list.
In any case very happy with purchase, plan to use it as a daily.
