Re: Please Help Me Asap!!!
well you can get a universal one at wal mart or any chain auto parts store... i would run the lead up to the tail lights and run it off the marker lights if ya dont have any power wire to where your old one used to be... if its a true emergency get them crimp connectors like you would use for a trailer light kit

Re: Please Help Me Asap!!!
Like OldRusty said, either Walmart, or some late night store,.....universal light assy, to tail light wire. I think it's the green????????
If it's all out crunch time, look for a old dome light, or just a socket, wire the ground, and one terminal, and let it hang! Good Luck

Re: Please Help Me Asap!!!
I just checked the wiring diagram for a 79, and for that year, it was a brown wire. Now on my trucks, it came out of the connector for all the rear lights. Hope this helps

Re: Please Help Me Asap!!!
Most factory bumpers had one of two plate light designs. One had two mounting holes, the other was a 1-1/4" snap-in deal. Both are readily available at most parts stores and probably Walmart. Just tap into the nearest power wire that operates the running lights.

Re: Please Help Me Asap!!!
if you have a stock bumper then yes there are two chrome kinds like half moon license plate lights mounted on either side of the plate in the rear bumper... i think you may be able to find some kind of aftermarket to fit there too especially in a big rig parts place if wally world dont have them
ps if you dont have them and they arent operational in addition to failing inspectiion some cops will give you a ticket

Re: Please Help Me Asap!!!
I know that most step bumpers used the snap-in half moon style, not sure about the bumper you've got. I'm picturing a single, two-screw mount above the center of your plate. Whether or not you need two is up to your state law. Maine only requires one. Two is better, but will only pass as long as both are operational.

Re: Please Help Me Asap!!!
I believe for an inspection you just need to have some sort of light there... i dont believe you need to have both. just as long as you can see the plate at night.

Re: Please Help Me Asap!!!
Take off the bumper or looke under the drivers side corner you will see the factory bracket and it will have the factory light. there will be a wire which goes to a conector and that will be the power for your new lights. or juct take the bumper off and mount the plate. to give you a better idea of were it is look at my picture. all trucks came with this from the factory as far as i know I did not even know it was there till i removed my bumper. and my 85 had one too so it was factory

Re: Please Help Me Asap!!!
It's a brown wire for pretty much all years i believe for the marker circuit. Only one light is required.

Re: Please Help Me Asap!!!
Oklahoma doesnt have any inspections. What inspection are you having to go through? Or did they recently, in the last 2 months, bring them back? I use to live there, moved Dec 06.

Re: Please Help Me Asap!!!
no inspections and its not a state inspection... i took it there because i cannot flush my tranny or brakes as quickly and easy as they can (hook to machine) plus all it cost me was $50 bucks and i got oil change, plugs, wires, etc etc and i got tranny and brakes flushed everything is all fixed up now...
