Changed to a 160 degree thermostat and the appropriate fan switch. The engine seems to run around 160-180 versus the 185-210 it was running before.

There must be something in the water in late Feb./early March. My daughter was born on the 2nd, three weeks early. It's life changing, that's for sure.

took a pair of door panels that were about a 3 on a scale of 1-10 and painted them.

after a 6 dollar can of interior paint, they came up to about a 7. They were all faded and chipped. Took about an hour or so to sand them smooth, spray sound deadener on the back, and paint the fronts.

I don't suppose you have plans and pics for that setup, do you? I live in the city so I can't do much environmental geeking out, but I enjoy checking out what people come up with. It's at the point where there's a lot of backyard ingenuity, which is a good thing in my opinion. That's about as American as you can get.

No it isnt specifically truck related, but very inexpensive heat for the shop should sound good to anyone. There will be 4 systems providing heat for the shop when its done, unless one or two will do the job. Only one of them will involve fossil fuels, that is a home made waste oil burner, the rest are relatively passive and require no input from me once they are set up and working.

I have turned into an environmentalist geek because I cant go out and buy parts (or food) if I am heating the shop.

Maybe I can get stuff done all year after this one.

I helped my brother on his 2000 Silverado. Installed a new trans, caltracs and traced down a wiring issue. He is trying to get ready for PINKS! this coming weekend.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Re: What did you get done? 11/09

Spent Saturday morning in the rain at a car show that the organizers finally called at 1230. The delay did give me time to stretch out and take a nice nap in my Chevelle.

Ran around Saturday afternoon looking for parts for the “Heap’s” upcoming V8 swap.

Chilled out Saturday night in the garage and refinished a 62 Chevy steering wheel. I’m planning on using it in the Heap at some point. I used SEM coat but I’ll strip all of that off and use regular base/clear when the time comes. The SEM didn’t give me the shine I was looking for, but that’s not really what SEM is for.

Washed the fleet Sunday and hung out with the family.
