Re: Longhorn Cheyenne 30
The book says the one tons generally used 5.14's. It says the 11,000, 13,000 and 15,000 lbs axles used larger axle shafts and bigger banjo housings. Sound right?
I really am an 8 lug guy at heart and find the HO 52/72's at Pic a Part once in a while. I am seriously thinking of converting my 71 longbed C-10 to a 3/4 ton. I already have spindles rotors and calipers. I know I would need lower A arms and tie rods, heavier springs and the rear axle. I would look for a 4.10 and use a 700R4 to get driveablility on the highway back. I could have the rear half of the driveshaft redone for the 3/4 ton yoke and that should be about it. It would of course receive my slotted mags I have left over from my old 76 4x4 when it had 36" tires and a 4" lift on it. |

Re: Longhorn Cheyenne 30
the one tons with dual rear wheels automaticly got the 5.14, and since DRW was way more common than SRW, it's fair to say it was the most common rear gearset.
