Re: Blazer frame vs Shortbed Frame
At the end of it all, I found there is no real money waiting for me. Lots of us Blazer guys are just getting by.
I love developing this idea, but at the end I don't want to be a great story with a sad ending. CRazy part is, I put it together, have witnesses, and yet I can't TOTALLY comprehend how it all works with a big picture in mind. It works for the most part, from it's own motion. One actuator, thus movement dictates where and when a part is going to be. The rear cover has it's own actuator, so that makes two altogether. I had it at one time all with one actuator and could drop or raise the top at 65mph on a calm day! That was a sight and I wish I could have that with the rear cover I have now. |

Re: Blazer frame vs Shortbed Frame
Close to Austin. I'm north of the red river 40 miles.
Only thing is, this cuts down on storage area and bolts in, thus a rear seat is useless. The ultimate for me would be to build a 1 ton Suburban and have this top on it. I've done the rough measurements, and a fifth wheel hookup is possible there. Simply put a cab divider behind the front seats that seals to the bottom edge of the rear window cover. That top would go down at 65mph!On a calm day of course. |

Top in motion in traffic is a guaranteed head turner and there is no envy whatsoever for any SSR. Separates the gold chainers from the cowboys in a hurry!

Re: Blazer frame vs Shortbed Frame
Those rea the only pics I have up right now, I do have a few build pics laying around.
I'll try to get them up, I'm wasting time right now, I have to get a race car like that one that's on the trailer ready for Wichita Falls. As for reinforcement of the fiberglass, I used a tube frame from waterpipe. Steel was more forgiving, and with fiberglass, it's really use your best judgement. I'll see what I can find. I really have to go right now. I need to get some video of it on youtube as well. I'm surprised I even know how to type! |
