transmission help

Okay guys here's what i'm planning on 8 inches of lift and 15.5 inch wide 38 inch tall tires. Im building a 450+ horse 454 and i as wondering if a sm465 or if a newer style nv4500 would be a better choice. The truck is going to see the road but its also gonna be run in some mud and put in pulls. Thanks

Re: transmission help

The last truck pull I was at, all the manual transmission trucks had sm465s, so I'm thinking one should work for you just fine. It will be easier and cheaper than a NV4500. I think the choice between the two really depends on how bad you want overdrive.

Re: transmission help

Okay that's kind of what i was thinking. Overdrive doesnt really matter much to me i was just thinking one might be better than the other but thanks that means more money into the body.
