Re: TH400 Kickdown Switch

That works! I think after you add it, you will be happy that you did.

Re: TH400 Kickdown Switch

Not cheap, but the Lokar unit is well engineered, easily adjusted, and works perfectly. Yes the TH400 will work without it, but it sure is nice when it kicks down at the right time. It will also cause it to hold the gear longer when activated.

Re: TH400 Kickdown Switch

i havent looked at it lately, but I seem to remember the 71 - 90-something TH400 kickdown switch not wanting to wotk on the 70 and older due to the throttle pedal assembly being totally diferent than the 71 and up (rod verses cable.
And yes, I am talking stock stuff, not aftermarket.

Re: TH400 Kickdown Switch

Yes, I believe they are different. Seems like most guys on here would rather spend a few days worth of time on something rather than spend $100 on a part. It was just an option that I thought I would throw out there. I figured as many of these trucks are out there, a guy should be able to find a 71 or 72 pedal assembly for cheap to free. I think the cable set up is a better design than the rod anyway. Thats the beauty of these trucks. Simplicity and a wide range of interchangability.

Re: TH400 Kickdown Switch

you have to take part of the firewall with you and weld it in if you wanted to convert to the cable throttle.
It is a better design, and safer, which is why they went to it.
