Re: New guy with 52 AD project.

looking good, I definitely thought about using an aftermarket clutch on my next truck. How much was that set up you got for the clutch, actually for the brake too? Does it flex the firewall? I know my set up did with s-10 brake pedal and c-10 clutch assembly, I had to reinforce it a bit. Looks like it is coming along.

I know it seems like you might have to modify that header a bit. By the looks of the pic the steering will be a tight squeeze, you gonna be alright there?

I purchased the Wilwood pedal and master cylinders off of e-bay. I got a very good deal on the pedal assemblies because no one bid on them. I gave $60.00 for the clutch pedal and master cylinder and $80 for the brake masters and pedal. Normally they run around $300 for the complete set. I did make mounting plates for the pedal assemblies (not shown) so the stress would not be on the firewall.

As for the steering shaft. That is a photo of the mock up. The steering shaft and housing will be cut off just past the firewall and a coupling welded on the shaft. I am running a power rack so clearance will not be an issue. I am using a steering joint and support bearing.

Re: New guy with 52 AD project.

All of the holes in the frame have been welded, '70 trailing arm cross member in place, rear axle housing is square and the trailing arms are in place.

I still need to box the frame, install the fuel tank, run fuel lines, route the exhaust and hopeful fire the engine in a few weeks.

Re: New guy with 52 AD project.

Someone in the past mentioned NASCAR truck trailing arms. The trailing arms I purchased are new NASCAR arm. They are shown in the above pics. If anyone needs info. on the NASCAR arms let me know.

Neither, I will be running coil overs. I thought about bags (Shockwaves) but I decided to go with coil overs in the front and rear. I may do a little auto cross and open road racing, so the trailing arms and coil overs will handle good.

Have you figured out what you're gonna do about the radiator? Which one are you using?

No, that is near impossible but would be nice! I have a long way to go. Only working on it during the weekends. I don't have much time thru the week. The plan is to get the cab finished, back on the frame and I can start driving it while finishing the body panels.

Re: New guy with 52 AD project.

It would be cool to see it out by summer. I think you will like that champion radiator. I like mine, but I used a 55' belair repro they make. Any thoughts on rims or tires?

For now I'm going to run the 15" rallies with either a bullet center or a baby moon smoothie (not sure). I had kicked around the idea of a red wheel but now I'm leaning to black powder coat with a Coker white wall slick and something to match the front. I really like the look of the Coker slick but concerned about traction. I don't need a slick but like the look of this tire wheel combo. I'm not 100% sold on the white wall but I could live with it. I did not see any other tires on their web site that offers this same look. Thoughts, good, bad or indifferent?

Re: New guy with 52 AD project.

Longhair did some photo shop colors in this thread. Keep in mind, I will be going with flat paint. He could not flatten the color on the photos but it gives me some ideas.

Re: New guy with 52 AD project.

I love the Coker slick, looks like a Hurst "pie crust" or "cheater" slick. There is a truck from Kansas maybe that I've seen at the HAMB drags and Goodguys that runs chrome reverse wheels with whide whites and those tires on the back. It looks killer. I'm considering getting a set, but for the track only...

Re: New guy with 52 AD project.

I finished boxing in the frame this weekend and finished with POR15 and a top coat of black epoxy paint. It turned out better that I thought it would. I hope to have the fuel tank mounted this weekend and start plumbing the fuel lines. The frame is flipped, upside down in these pics. I also attached a photo of the under side of the cab.

I can't find the same look with tread for daily driving. Do you know of any? I may call Coker and see if they can advise.
