Re: What did you get done? Labor day 09/05/10 Edition
I didn't get anything done on my truck at all. However, I did get the siding and soffitt done on the house I am residing. Now I only have the pvc coil and gutters to put up, but the guy I am working with won't back off on waiting 3 weeks to do it. So I think tonight I am going to change the valve stem oil seals and start on my exhaust.

Re: What did you get done? Labor day 09/05/10 Edition
We loaded up Friday afternoon for a road trip to see my family in Great Bend, KS. It is about 500 miles, and my daughter did great. I was worried that she would be quite a handful, but she did fine, thanks to watching Elmo on our phones. I will have those songs in my head for weeks, I think.
I noticed quite a few clean squares on the road. I also made the most of my driving time planning out my build in my head. I bought a parts truck Thursday, and it is going to be dropped off later this week. I can't wait to get my truck shorter!!!

Re: What did you get done? Labor day 09/05/10 Edition
I finally tore the top end off the motor in my truck to figure out the coolant drinking problem and discovered the head on he drivers side is cracked. I see it as a positive though because I wanted to put a Vortec top end on it and now I have an excuse.

Changed out the waterpump and done a complete radiator flush. Then parked it the next day because the starter went out and the carb started acting up.

Nothing truck related until I can get a good frame.... for cheap. Did however get some Jeep related stuff done, but nothing major.... or cool.
Brad2... glad to see you are still around.

Dealing with some personal problems that I caused with the help of Smirnoff vodka and poor judgement...
Went to Woodland Friday night and started the '85 for a bit then left for Clearlake. Just havven't had time or money to play with the '85 lately.

Re: What did you get done? Labor day 09/05/10 Edition
Only thing on the C-30 was clean and lubricate the carburetor linkage that stuck it into high idle.
A lot of yard work! Mowed/trimmed the place tight & trimmed even the hedges. Around here that was a couple of days but the wife smiles when it looks this nice. I swear I have mowed a thousand miles and gone nowhere fast in my lifetime here! I tend to think way too much about such weird stuff as this while sitting on the mower. Rest of the time was spent working on the Dodge Ram. Did a front brake job because I want to sell it and it was due for new pads. Almost done with detailing, only the motor and the roof is left. Then a fresh oil change is on the list. Hopefully this week I'll have it done to comfortably send it to Craigs List and the "market". Only problem now; after all this work on it the darn thing it has cleaned up like new! Ah, but I promised the wife we didn't need it so it was going...then again, there is this other truck I saw "real cheap"... Anyway, a good holiday. Hope the same always for all. Next one is...Thanksgiving? Mark

I visit the site quite often but don't log on or post much. Haven't done much of anything truck related for quite a while because my kids keep me so busy.

Re: What did you get done? Labor day 09/05/10 Edition
Worked on the tailgate, worked on the consoles, worked on getting the interior cleaned up, got the firewall and a few other things painted. Oh yeah, there's three of us, sometimes 5, if the nephews g/f comes over, and one of his friends. Sometimes I get the neighbors to help. I would like to ask you guys to say a prayer for my aunt. She is suffering from cancer and not doing very well.

Re: What did you get done? Labor day 09/05/10 Edition
I replaced my A/C control panel in the dash (a real PIA) and put a new blower motor in the truck. I had been having some problems with the compressor running all the time, and the last time I drove it I saw (and smelled!) some smoke come out of the defroster vent. This was my attempt at fixing it. I never did find anything burned, but no more smoke or stink, so I'm hoping it fixed the problem.
I wish i had done this a long time ago. The blower motor was only $15, and it puts out a lot more air than it ever has in the 10 years I have owned the truck. My compressor also just runs when it is supposed to now. I have been doing a lot of work on the truck lately because I am buying an old house that needs a lot of work. I need the truck for getting all the materials, and I'll need it to move when I'm done, so I'm trying to get it back in shape after a long period of neglect. We closed on the house yesterday, so I now have a little over an acre of land and a barn to store all of my stuff in. This will be a lifelong dream come true...as long as I survive the renovations and the move. Slonaker |

Took the Burb from this
to this and this The back end is going to the scrap yard, filled with the 3 other scrap iron piles I have around the shop. The front end is going on the LS engine mock-up frame section.

Man I would love to have that section of firewall with the A/C cutouts in it. I need to find a parts burb quick!
