Re: 292 engine to a 283 setup

No reason to be sorry.

This forum has been a huge help,
I'm glad to give back anyway I can.

I'll try and take some more pics of the block this afternoon.

Re: 292 engine to a 283 setup

Yes, that answers the question exactly. Two holes straight across, for a 153 tooth starter. It's the same as the engines with 7/16" crank holes, which means I have to go back to the drawing board. Thank you very much for all of your help and for your patience with me.

Re: 292 engine to a 283 setup

I've been following this thread as I do all of the 292 threads. I have 2 blocks, one from a '69 K-20 and the other an unknown vintage-somewhere around '64 as near as I can tell. What I can say, the '69 has the 3 bolt starter, and no bolt holes in the block, unless they are covered with 40 years of crud. I havn't really cleaned this one up yet. The clutch is still on, so I can't say about the flywheel bolts, but I have heard rumors of different cranks-some having 6 counterweights and some with 12 (slightly more desirable). Maybe that is the difference in the FW bolts.

FWIW.
