Re: Holley Carb.

That is a somewhat newer Holley 750 with the zinc coating. Holley hasn't been using the gold anodized boosters all that long.

What size motor is that on? That's a pretty good size carb.

I should do Geoff, I used Autosol chrome polish and that stuff that's free..elbow grease a toothbrush was a good tool for all the nooks & cranny's, I even polished that ugly white wire and trimmed it, now it's less obvious and looks kinda part of it.
I would have liked to be able to keep the gold cadmium plate look of all the brackets and levers etc, but most of it was badly tarnished and if you try and clean it the cad plate comes off.

454...I reckon whoever did all the upgrades on this truck back in the states did it some time ago and did it pretty well.

Re: Holley Carb.

Ah....the dreaded 454! lol I think I have 3 or 4 of them in vehicles around my place. Those 3310s to work nicely on a warmed up '54.

Re: Holley Carb.

Here is the choke side of my 3310. I removed all the junk there, but had to reuse the bracket you see held on with the 3 screws (blue circle). It covers a small port that needs to stay plugged. I also just reinstalled the big phillips head screw (red circle) back into the throttle shaft to make it look a little cleaner.

Yes, you had to do that because this carb has the internal vacuum source. I usually tap that hole with a 6-13 thread and run a set screw down it. This was you can just unscrew it if you want to run an electric choke.

On my T-ram, I have the lower fast idle portion hooked up to the front carb. I have both flaps removed and the fast idle portion of the second carb gone. Since the carb linkage is sync'd, having the fast idle on the front carb affects both carbs. I just stick my hand under the Hilborn and pull it back to taste. As she builds temp I just keep backing 'er down until it will idle on its own. Works great for me and I don't have the cable running into the cab.

Re: Holley Carb.

Are you talking about the secondary shaft kit? They are nice but not needed on a NON 4 corner idle carb.
