Re: Overflow tank?
Original 71 I got the tank off of ebay a couple of years ago. Let me look back through some photos and see if I have more of the tank.

Re: Overflow tank?
The one i was just overcharged for($28) by LMC is a pc of Taiwan crap. Only one of the holes lined up and the cap wont snap on. Even the plastic is paper thin unlike the originals. Supposed to be a factory replacement for my 75 C10. The last one i bought from Classic Ind. was better made. I think this is the last one i will buy. Next time i will make something. Poor quality products fall by the wayside.

Re: Overflow tank?
Don't have a pic of it but I installed mine on the passenger side just aft of the battery. Used a w/s washer tank and bracket. Looks stock and matches the factory washer tank on the driver's side. Just don't get confused and put anti-freeze in the driver's side tank.

Re: Overflow tank?
I used a washer fluid bottle and mounted mine next to the battery. It works and looks stock to those who don't know.

Re: Overflow tank?
Do you have a front view of that? Can you see that chrome through the grille?

Re: Overflow tank?
This is a subjective thing, so although I like the bit of flash it provides, I wouldn't say one's eye is drawn to it through the grill. You can see it more during the day than at night. If it bothers you, you could certainly black out the forward surface of the bottle. If you look at the lower picture (above) you can see the bottle through the grill. It is less noticable at night as it basically reflects black as seen in this flash photo I just took for you.

Re: Overflow tank?
Oldgold70c10 I like where you installed your tank.
Did you have to use a different pressure cap for your radiator? It seems I read somewhere that the tank needed to be 4 inches below the radiator cap. Is that true? My old girl dont have an overflow tank but does have a washer fluid tank that isn't being used. I'd thought about leaving it where its at and running a hose between the two, but like it better where yours is located. Thanks ! |

Re: Overflow tank?
Has anyone used a factory GM overflow tank from a newer car/truck on a 67-72 C10?

I'll get one tomorrow. Its a fender well mounted one. Bolts on passenger side. Had to drill two holes, install hose, and the two bolts. Done.

Re: Overflow tank ?
. . . .
I have this one that I bought on eBay that was for a Monte Carlo ( I THINK !!! ) I can't use it now since I installed the washer bottle for my auxiliary battery. It fits on top of the passenger side wheel well as seen in the second picture. ( that's one similar to it, installed in someone else's truck ) . . . . |

Re: Overflow tank?
Here is a couple pictures showing the mount of room I am working with.
Passenger side. Driver side. Looking for an Chevy OEM tank to make it a closed system. Do you guys have any idea what year Monte Carlo it is from? I have a couple Chevy pick-pull yards close by but they don't let you walk around and pull parts. They pull them for you. Thanks again for the help. |

Re: Overflow tank?
I can only speak for the 71-72......LH side of the radiator on the core support. The hose runs underneath the shroud held by a clip/bracket. These are difficult to find. You can get cheap from lots of places, which will work. If you go cheap, may as well use plumbers tape. Wes sells a nice one that sits on the RH fender. Bet he has one for yours as well.
Real clean Nuke.

Re: Overflow tank?
I know old thread. I'm looking to add one to my '70 and thinking of doing something non-traditional. Any recommendations on what size the container should be?
