Mark....
I'm thinkin' your best location for a Photo Shoot might be with Lake Coeur d'Alene as a back-drop.
You sure do live in a nice corner of the state.

Jocko...
Absolutely breathtaking.
I agree, very cool pics jocko!

Hey Jocko, not to go off on a tangent with your thread but do you know what's the deal with the place in Pearsonville? I've been there a few times in the last few years trying to see about parts and I can't seem to get there while they are open. The emails bounce back. Are they in business or closed.

My mom always had the best advice. It was just a tad late. After a fall that involved blood, she'd say....."Careful!"

Surfdaddy - Pearsonville's elder lady manager has always been a bit difficult to deal with (understatement), and I gave up awhile ago. But I'm not sure simple personality, or lack thereof, is the issue - even my favorite hunting grounds here around china lake aren't allowing anyone to stroll the yards anymore, some claim it's an insurance issue, some just say no (and these are ones I used to stroll through about 3 years ago when I lived here before). I called one local yard about some 66 stuff - about a 66 I could see right on the fence from the street, no less, and they told me they didn't have one in the whole yard. They had many.

Finally, one of the guys I spoke with told me that most of the yards (around here, anyway) have cut staff and are crushing everything they can - that's the most bang for the buck for them. I absolutely don't understand it... how can a salvage yard NOT come out ahead to let some gear head remove a steering wheel or some chrome trim thingy that was a one-year-only type of part when he/she is willing to pay a chunk of $ for it? They can still crush the vehicle AFTER they make a killing on the little parts, but for some reason NONE of them around here are. I've found it very frustrating and it's a shame when you consider how many of these old trucks are really left to pick from - not as many as we'd like to think.

Oh well. I've called every junkyard from Pearsonville to Ecology in Adelanto looking for stock 71+ disk brake steelies - the 6 luggers are apparently extinct and, even though I know the 5 luggers aren't, folks act like they are.

I think you struck a nerve... sorry to ramble on. As for Personville, not sure what's going on, but it's the same as anywhere else around here now, unfortunately. Very unfortunate in the case of Pearsonville because they had some decent old stuff. Sierra Recycling in Ridgecrest corralled all their "old" iron up in one "overflow" lot that isn't open to the public. Argh. Sorry, wish I had better news for ya, but the dry desert outdoor parts warehouse is truly drying up I'm afraid.

Re: Hard to dislike California...

I thought everybody around the world had beautiful sun sets like that! Perhaps not.... It was so sunny today I had to use my air and I added to my tan at work in Newport beach =)

Thanks for those nice truck pic's. I will appreciate the set's even more now.
