Casting Date code is on the rear of the block on top (passenger side), kind of opposite the casting number. It should be smaller in size and will be a letter with a few numbers after it. for example: F122 (June 12 of 1972) This is the date the engine block was made.
DSALMAN described the location of the stamped VIN and/or date code w/ engine suffix code (which tells you what it actually came in, date when that was determined, horsepower, transmission, 2 or 4 bolt main, etc. and is usually close to the assembly date of the vehicle). In my case, I am interested specifically in the casting date code. Thanks!! |
