Introducing "Gangreen"
Hello all, this is my second post here. I have been viewing the forums the last few days and I decided to post. I picked up my 79 K20 Scottsdale last Saturday after I got off work. I went all the way to Freeport,IL from Sheffield and traded my 83 C10 I had for it. While it is not the prettiest thing in the world, it is one of my dream trucks.
As mentioned above it is a 1979 K20 Scottsdale with a 400 small block, turbo 350, and a 203 or a 205 t-case (not sure which haven't looked real close yet). It has the full floater 14 bolt rear but I haven't looked at the front yet. 4x4 works as it should. Full time of course lol. It has some issues that need fixed. Speedo doesn't work, drivers side window also doesn't work (currently removed waiting for new mechanism), rust (not unusual fora IL/WI border truck, and I have discovered that the vacuum modulator needs replaced because its using trans fluid and blows white smoke in passing gear. Now for some pics. These are from the Craigslist ad for it. That's as it was when I got it. More pics in next post. Posted via Mobile Device Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Introducing "Gangreen"
I took these two pics when I looked at it. I believe it is somewhat rare for being a 79 fleet side 3/4 ton with a wood floor in the box.
Then Sunday I put my light bar in (just ratchet strapped for now) and headed over to my buddy's to pull the stock wheels and new Courser 9.50-16.5s off and stick on his old 35x12.5x16.5 off road tires (don't remember their name right now) on 16.5x10 wagon wheels. I only had to do minor trimming to the passenger side front fender to fit them. More pics tomorrow. Let me know what you think. And I'll start a project post soon. Re: Introducing "Gangreen"
Looks like a cool project, but I liked it better with the stock wheels and no roll bar. I also like the green.

Re: Introducing "Gangreen"
How solid is the front of the truck? The back looks like it has some pretty bad rust problems.

Re: Introducing "Gangreen"
The radiator support, bumper, valence, and hood are solid. Fenders are shot, cab is solid except for corners and drivers floor under e brake. Doors are solid. Bed is toast, but I found a rust free one for $500.

Re: Introducing "Gangreen"
203 T case. You have the full time 4X4 vs part time with lock out hubs.

Re: Introducing "Gangreen"
Common rust issues for a truck of that age in any area that gets snow/salted roads.
