Not exactly a craft, but certainly a project. We had a 16'X32' in-ground swimming pool that we seldom used because the kids are out of state now, and unless the water was 78 deg or higher yours truly was not going in it. My wife would go in maybe twice a year if the days had been hot. Yet we still maintained it as a pool which gets expensive. I told her I was going to fill it in, or turn it into a water garden. I didn't get any arguments, so I began shoveling sand into it.
Long story short, we developed a partnership; I dug the holes and built the pergola, my wife filled the holes with plants, and Mother Nature did the rest. We spend far, far more time out there now watching the fish and enjoying the view then we ever did when it was a pool, and the season is much longer too. The first photos are of a rain storm we had yet under the roof (tarp) we remained dry. I also use it as a "Small Boat Test Facility" w/ RC boats.
