Do you plan to re-use the gear set or do you plan to replace them?

I ask because if you plan to re-use them, you need to verify if the ring gear is normal thickness or thicker for use on a series 3 carrier. This matters alot and you need to know 100% what you have so you can get the proper carrier.

With a truck built in 1978 there is no guarantee that the original equipment is in place. It may have had a gear change and was running 3.42 or lower.

No problem man..

Just pop the cover and verify what you have before you start buying parts.

Good luck! Setting up a rear end is challenging, but very rewarding once you get it!
