Re: when has custom gone too far?
Since it was built as a custom transport, I guess I can see putting something custom out there to draw attention to whatever was being transported. Seems to have lost it's usefulness!

Re: when has custom gone too far?
Saw that in a cycle magazine years ago. It had a matching Harley Sportster with two inline rear wheels on it. Never thought I'd see it again.

Re: when has custom gone too far?
I think the last time ( or maybe two or three times ago) it was for sale it had a hot tub in the bed.

Re: when has custom gone too far?
Love the hot tub trailer concept. Just curious as to the drivetrain -- is it a K/1500 in front-wheel-only, or are some/all of the triple axles attached to a driveshaft?
Good price, but a Grant wheel is a dealbreaker for me.

Re: when has custom gone too far?
We've all done something crazy in our past. I had a 57 coupe back in 75 when I was 17 and I put that longhair fuzzy carpet on the dash and rear window sill. I'm thinking since this guy has had this truck up for 6 months on craigslist, he's regretting the paint job about now. Not bashing though. I believe these trucks are for doing whatever floats your boat.

Re: when has custom gone too far?
It's definitely "One of a kind!" Every person is entitled to his or her own opinion, "My personal opinion", I like it. I personally would change the paint skeem, and a few personal touches and put her to work. Buying all those tires would suck though, and in states like mine with Toll Bridges, or Florida with Toll Highways, where you pay by the Axel would really suck too. But for road trips to car shows "hauling a bagged C10 for instance", those rest area snoozes, several day shows or swap meets it would be great, along with getting you attention. If had the room, I'd done been on it!

Re: when has custom gone too far?
Wow- It certainly took me some courage to open this thread. The anxiety of seeing something that I might have done was almost too much!

Re: when has custom gone too far?
I think I would have to sell it if i ever needed new tires, be to $$$ for all new ones!
Might be why it's up for sale now. Runs and drives great! Just needs 3K in tires!

Re: when has custom gone too far?
pretty much everything I've done to a vehicle in the past that ended up looking stupid later was also considered the latest trend at the time. I came really close to painting a chop top 72 lime green around 25 or so years ago when I was in high school.
now i'm older, a little wiser and prefer to build things that will still look good in thre future regardless of the latest trends.

Re: when has custom gone too far?
There are some very creative and interesting custom works out there. Reminds of the one that had a couple feet cut out of the middle all the way through and turned into a roadster. Mad skills, interesting results.

Re: when has custom gone too far?
This truck is long, not wide, so no reason for wide load signs. I think there are over length vehicle signs, though.
In the late-70s I saw a square body pickup that was stretched to a 12' bed with tandem rear. It was that factory green that's a tad off from Medium Olive Poly and had chrome spoke wheels. It looked great and I thought it was a great idea for a drywall or vinyl siding contractor, a bed made to carry your materials. I also have a friend with a recycled lumber business and another friend is his mechanic/truck driver guy. He took a square body C/30 DRW long frame, stretched it to take a 16' bed for hauling millwork, and added a tag axle. That was a really cool, and useful, truck.
