Re: when has custom gone too far?

I like that it's so different. If it's built to be truly functional and reliable, I think it's a cool tow rig!

I can't say I'd be even close to interested, haha. But I would love to look underneath at the frame and body work...

Well, it would certainly get people's attention when you drove it.

It would be hard to drive in traffic and make a sharp turn.

Re: when has custom gone too far?

There's a truck on the forums here that has some very untasteful mods. The guy thinks it's so awesome but I doubt many agree.

Becuase to him it may be awesome...It's his truck, let him do what he wants..too each his own. If we all built the same thing, it would be a pretty boring hobby.

Re: when has custom gone too far?

Humm, take a suburban and a flatbed trailer and weld them solid... Add a little body work and hey instant custom..... Well at least he doesn't think its worth 30G's

Good for parts.

There are some things that are a matter of different tastes. Then there are things that are just hideous to 99% of the rest. When you post pictures of anything online it's an open invitation to criticism. But if that person likes it...that's all that matters.

Re: when has custom gone too far?

The 99%..doesn't matter. If it's not your truck or car or whatever why bash the guy? Or why draw attention to it? Hell..I've seen things that are not necessarily my style.I try and keep my mouth shut..it's not mine..I don't have to drive it...and lets not talk about craftsmanship...I've seen some welds and.body work here in build threads here and wow... ragging and bashing on people says alot more about the person bashing...then the person being bashed..

Re: when has custom gone too far?

I built a go car out of a shaft-driven 4-wheeler and a broken go cart frame just to do it. It was 11 feet long as ridiculous when I finished it, but I learned a lot in the process.

Maybe this guy had a vision in his head and he wanted to see what it would look like. Maybe spare parts and a lot of free time took flight and this creation is what happened out of boredom.

Re: when has custom gone too far?

custom can never go to far, but skills often don't go far enough.

one of the things I think everyone should do if they are doing a very radical build is when you are roughly halfway through step back and take a good hard look from every angle possible at the work of art or monstrosity you have created. and if its leaning more toward monstrosity than work of art tear it apart and start over and keep at it until its not hideous. I think to many people see the outcome is not coming out anywhere near what it looked like in their head but they think its to far along to stop

I would finish the interior in velour, buttons and fuzzy ball thingys. Rent it out for weddings and prom!! This thing is a work of art!! I love this thing and you all would be envious if I pulled up at the next c10 gathering!! Lol , should be 4x4 and have a hot tub on back. Now I'm dreaming... If only she were mine!!

Sorry I disagree....there is a thing called "tasteful" and of course you can do whatever you want to your own truck but that doesn't mean you have good taste.

Re: when has custom gone too far?

I dunno when custom goes too far but looks like that one there went about 12' too far

That thing's so long a cop would charge extra to give you a ticket.

That thing's so long it would take you two days to get anywhere.

That thing is so long you'd need DOT to chart your routes.

I never said anything about good taste. That being said, what makes your sense of taste any better than someone else's. And what gives anyone the right to trash or pick apart someone's taste/choices?
