Re: Old Yeller my build 56 GMC
One thing nice about these threads and web sites , you get to meet some really nice people you normally wouldn't meet.
Kim and Joe Purcell stop by while out here on their vacation and took time out to visit and they bought breakfast. We had a really nice visit. Thanks Kim and Joe I hope you have a safe trip back home. Rich |

Re: Old Yeller my build 56 GMC
Sorry I am late leaving a comment. It's just too much to see on this site, but I do like following the progress on your truck.

Re: Old Yeller my build 56 GMC
Did you have to move your rear crossmember to fit that gas tank? I have a 55 car and measured the tank, and it will not fit in my 56 truck frame unless I move a crossmember.

We are really looking forward to the next visit, hopefully in the "Ram-rolet" next time, though I still have a LOT of work left to do. The members here have a wealth of experience and are ready to share their insight. This is what it is all about. Thanks for a great visit Rich! Here's a few pics from someplace we last visited 18 years ago... -Joe Last edited by Purcell69; 06-14-2014 at 04:34 PM. Reason: add pics |

Joe I need to get back up to Monument Valley. I haven't been there in about 35 years. Maybe this fall I will take the truck up there. Rich

Re: Old Yeller my build 56 GMC
Got my box built for the bed. I will post some pic as soon as I find my camera.
I got my eye on a 72 Elcamino for something to do this winter. Does anyone know of a good fourm that is user friendly for the 68 to 72 ElCaminos. Thanks Rich |

Re: Old Yeller my build 56 GMC
I am getting the picture. Always been a fan of seat belts and feel pretty exposed just cruising around the neighborhood. Thx.

Re: Old Yeller my build 56 GMC
I found my camera, I left out to my friends house when I was helping him paint his truck. I know it is the f word truck. He bought it new in 1972.
Also a pic of Kim and Joe when they came out and stop buy. I made the utility box for the bed from 1/2 ply and the covered it with oak boards that I cut to match the floor. Rich |

Re: Old Yeller my build 56 GMC
Good set of pics, you know someone has to ask...... did you not have an extra paint mask for the dog when you were painting?
Just kidding, my dogs seem to get into my pics also.

Re: Old Yeller my build 56 GMC
I just now got back to your thread to look at seatbelt mounts. Great idea! I'll be stealing it when I get a chance.

Re: Old Yeller my build 56 GMC
Nice build Rich,I really enjoyed reading and looking at all the pictures.
I have a question about your front clip. How did you lower it, did you use drop spindles with stock springs? I have a 48 with a 79 Trans Am front clip but the PO heated the springs to make the drop and now it has very little travel and kinda stiff ride. Aslo I am not sure how close your clip and the TA compare to being the same. Thanks Kevin |

Re: Old Yeller my build 56 GMC
Kevin I used 2in drop spindles with stock springs. I would assume the TA and the Camaro is the same thing. Rich
