Re: Check Out My New Hood
Your opinion doesn't bother me at all. In fact it means nothing. Just trying to keep you from appearing like a jerk to the others on this forum next time you just feel like letting your thought fly.

I love the hood! By the way, wish I could find a couple for both of my blazers!

Re: Check Out My New Hood
It's pretty cool to see period after market parts make their way back onto the road.

Re: Check Out My New Hood
I think that hood came off of a blazer up here in Washington. It came up for sale on craigslist a couple years ago. I believe someone bought the hood off of it. WES

Re: Check Out My New Hood
Someone needs to bring that hood back to the aftermarket. I would buy a couple.
Gonna be a nice rig! Can't wait to see it with paint.

Re: Check Out My New Hood
BillD -
Thanks for the story on the hood. I've often wondered about its origins. By the way, the hood I got (from a seller in Washington as stated above), is by far the nicest quality fiberglass panel I have ever worked with, It is very well reinforced and is completely finished on the underside (no rough gorilla hair edges or surfaces). The fact that it is still around today in usable condition is a testament to its engineering in my opinion. I'm proud to own it. |

Re: Check Out My New Hood
Hey cleszkie, did you end up getting the paint finished on this Blazer? Any pics of the finished product?

Re: Check Out My New Hood
Chris - Sadly it still exists in the same paint/primer scheme it has been in for the past 5+ years (see my avatar). I have done a ton of other mechanical upgrades over that time, but no paint. I just use it too much and don't want to take it out of service to completely gut it, blow it apart, and send it to paint prison. The upside is that I don't care about scratches and rock chips. The downside is that I look like a homeless person driving it (according to my wife). Some day it will get that paint and all new trim and it will look awesome. Some day.......

Totally understand. At least it's been getting used and not blown apart for years. 👍

Re: Check Out My New Hood
I have seen your Blazer in person and the hood looks great on it. I think it looks better in person than in the photos.
I understand your issues with getting it painted, I just spent a whole year with my 72 suburban doing body work and paint. It came out great, and I am glad I did it, but man that was a long year. |

Re: Check Out My New Hood
Cool thread, awesome hood and who would have guessed the original designer of the hood would pop in to educate everyone on its history, and sad short-lived run.
I love this forum. |
