Re: Locomotive Lugnut
those wheels are killer. Really goes well with the rest of the truck and tones it down a bit.

Re: Locomotive Lugnut
BTW just in case anybody has ever wondered why I titled this thread "Locomotive Lugnut" when I got the truck there was a huge nut I found under the seat. Someone told me it was a locomotive lugnut, hince the name of the thread.

Re: Locomotive Lugnut
There is a ton of good parts left on that truck.
I hope someone gets some good out of it. Still a sad day,...

Re: Locomotive Lugnut
Some yahoo running from the cops hit it at 70+MPH. It happened to the new owner in Alabama. Everyone that was inside sustained injuries but are doing well now according to the owner.
Seeing this truck totaled kinda bothers me. It makes me feel like building another one very similar to it for some reason. I guess we'll see.

Wow, that is terrible, but glad to hear the folks are doing ok.
Wondering if it will be sold at an insurance auction?

Re: Locomotive Lugnut
This makes the second top notch built truck from the forum that has been totaled by someone running from the police. It happened to member Slick67's truck last year. WTH is wrong with people these days?

Re: Locomotive Lugnut
Ouch!! I feel your pain. In 1971 I traded my VW autocross bug for a panel van and kept my engine. I learned my body work skills on the van over 200 hours are the Army base auto body shop. They look like boxes but do not have on straight line, everything is a curve. Had it painted in 73, kept working on the engine, did the hippy/surfer interior and drove it as a dd and camping rig until 1976. Sold it to pay for college costs and bought my current 59. The kid I sold it to rolled it on the freeway 3 months later. Luckily he walked away. Here is a before and after.

Re: Locomotive Lugnut
Wow what a sad ending. I'm an over the road truck driver for 35 years and I dread every day on the road these days. It used to be fun but it seems like everyone takes driving for granted any more. You look down and there texting, playing on laptop's, reading everything but paying attention to driving. And your right they screw up and flip you off. WTF?

My friend's 51 Studebaker got rear-ended and caught fire. It was towed in and the insurance company paid him for it. One of his friends who has a salvage license wanted to bid on it and went to the yard where it was taken. The storage yard operator told him the car had been impounded and couldn't say who got it. My friend called the insurance company and asked who they sold it to and they said they couldn't tell him. He's a member of a large and active car club in Savannah and no one has been able to find out anything about what happened to it. It makes me think that someone with the right connections wanted it and that might be what happens to this truck. His insurance company was Grundy and he has only good things to say about them. |
