Glad your second new wiper/washer worked well. I bought rebuilt wiper/washer assemblies from two different vendors and neither one of them worked properly. Both had intermittent washer problems. Ended up disabling the OE pump and installing an aftermarket pump. So far, so good.

Very nice engine compartment you have there! (Insert simple "thumbs-up" emoji here if I could find one.

I had to do that too. The pumps on the replacements kept getting stuck ON.

I also added a Floor Switch that activates the wipers momentarily for when you just need a couple of swipes - I love it!

Seems to be a common problem. Intermittently stays on after you activate it. Or sometimes is on all the time. And since it's mechanical, and not electrical, it's not an easy fix.

I've had mine apart several times and watched it work & fail on the bench (using a 5 amp 13.2 volt power supply). If I could replace a few parts, like the nylon pawl, I think it would work properly. Problem with the re-builder is they probably can't get all the parts, either.

Guess I should have taken photos, but what I remember doing is removing the parts in the photo below, and then blocking off the pump plunger with a spacer (but I don't remember what the issue was).

Hedman stainless headers. Old Air installation in progress. 1982 Custom Deluxe 10 SWB -- converted from 250-six to roller cam 350 w/ Vortec heads -- sold 1981 C10 Silverado LWB, 305, TH350C -- sold, but wish I still had it! 1969 C10 (not the current one) which I bought in the early 1980s. Paid $1200; sold for $1500 a few years later. Just a hint at the appreciation that was coming. Retired as a factory automation products salesman. Worked part-time over the years for an engine builder and a classic car repair shop. Member here for 26 years! This is the very first car/truck Internet forum I joined.
