Western US always looking. Over here they won't drive 3hrs.
If you can locate a hamber, or transport going that way.

Truck it came out of, from Banning California.

Re: NP435G. Free Free Free in Ohio

I'm in Tucson Arizona.

Curious how the NP 435G differs from the SM 420 and 465? I run the SM 465 in my C/10 Stepside, behind a 292, and a 465/NP 205 behind a 350 in my '71 GMC Jimmy. Also I have an SM 465/Rockwell T221, and a 2wd SM 465, both cores.

Re: NP435G. Free Free Free in Ohio

Only major difference is the NP435G is a true 4spd. Not the 3spd with granny gear.

NP435G has a 4 something first gear. See link below.

Few other minor differences.

Novak site is really good. You will see the NP435G is the only synchronized 1st gear. Also used least amount of years in GM.

The New Process 235 was used mostly in Dodge trucks. It is part of the Mopar company.
The early models back in the 60's had lousy synchronizers. The flimsy pins that held them together often broke & were very expensive to get new ones. The aluminum cover also caused trouble & were hard to work on. The SM 465 was one rugged transmission & the SM420 was good too.

Ford used them too. Looks like chevy, GMC only a few years.
With 170hp V6 could not break it. V6 went to a 67 4x4 restoration.
Removed for BBC AUTO conversion.

Novak site has good info and stats.

Re: NP435G. Free Free Free in Ohio

Not sure about the G designation, but I've got one sitting here also. Came out of my 68 C20 that had a 396 in front of it. It does have the 4-1 first gear.. I've got a rebuild kit for it also. Have no idea what to do with it. Have the bell housing and the sheet metal with it also. I took it out to put in a 465 with a Ranger OD in front of it

Re: NP435G. Free Free Free in Ohio

Was known as the close ratio 4 speed, new option for GMC in '66. 1 st gear is a semi granny, not used for regular stop and go. New option for Chevy in '67. It is a direct replacement for the SM 420. '48-'67. This 435 has the small input retainer pre 68. Rare early style tranny and desirable for those who know. I'm sure many '48-'66 owners would love to dump the noisy( even when new) SM 420's

I can check it, pretty sure it is smaller than Chevy, when I was teetering on using with 402. With manual, needed special bell hsg. Then went with Automatic.
