Re: Looking for build name?

There has been progress but not quite as fast as I wanted. I have been trying to get a garage built for over a year and didn't want to have this finished with no indoor storage. I may change plans and am leaving to look at property in TN near some friends.

Here are the inner bedsides with the small arch reworked for more tire clearance. The wheel tubs were also widened 1.5" to accommodate wider tires at a later date, once I have melted these!

I have friends in Mount Joliet that moved there 10+ years ago. I would like to be near them but have been unable to find exactly what I am looking for. 3+ bedrooms, 2+ baths, 2+ car garage preferably 3+, and most importantly I don't want to see any neighbors from my windows. I will be down in a week to visit and look at a few properties. One is in Smithville about an hour away on 4 acres, another is in Centerville about 90 minutes away on 9 acres. I would like to be closer but? Are you anywhere near those locations? Any input or suggestions.

If I can't find what I am looking for this year I might look in Florida near Inverness.

Re: Looking for build name?

This is the back of the rear seat that I cut 3" out of the width. That is why 2 of the vertical supports are so close. I had to deal with the hog ring attachment points also which became a pain. The seat bottom was a lot more work and I forgot to take pictures. I had to cut them down to fit between the widened wheel tubs.

I am in Lebanon that's real close to your friends in Mt Juliet.

If I had my choice, I would pick Smithville over Centerville.

Smithville will have more auto parts places and grocery stores.

Centerville is more Rural thou and that might be what you are looking for.

Several months ago, I went to Bon Aqua for some lawnmower parts.
Thats about 25 miles from Centerville.

I was surprised to see they still have gravel roads down there.

They have already paved over all the ones around here.

Maybe we can meet up while I am there? I'll PM you my contact info if you would like. I have been looking in Lebanon also, so far nothing has met the criteria.

Updates have been slow because most of it wasn’t picture worthy. Things should be coming together quickly over the next few months.

This is the 1968 front grill that I will be using. We machine a 1970 Chevelle SS emblem to fit the grill.

In most cases, it’s just cheaper to buy bolts already in Black oxide. Every now and then you may run into a bolt that you can’t find a replacement for. I still have plenty of chemicals left if I needed to do so.

I may have to go out and steal mine. Off of my car. How is it held on?

Looks like your using welding wire to soften the edge

It is held on by the factory studs that come off the rear of the emblem. I know he machine it to fit. I do not know if he used any welding wire on the edge. I will ask him the next time we communicate.

Picking the color was probably the most difficult part of the build for me.
