Cars.com researchers examined 338 cars to rank the top 100 on “five criteria: assembly location, parts content, engine origin, transmission origin, and U.S. manufacturing workforce.”

An important caveat: for parts content, Cars.com counts Canada as part of the U.S.
The Top Ten, in order:

Tesla Model Y
Tesla Model 3
Tesla Model X
Tesla Model S
Honda Passport
Volkswagen ID.4
Honda Odyssey
Acura MDX
Honda Ridgeline
Acura RDX

Several new large deposits of lithium have been discovered in the US. Other cars also have copper and steel.

85% of the electricity coming out those wall sockets comes from fossil fuels.

This is true. However, the boilers are typically 85% efficient the very best automotive engine is 40% efficient and the average is closer to 20%. This leaves a lot of room for the efficiencies of electricity to shine. One thing the electrics can do is, during regen, put electrons back into the tank. No other vehicle type can do this.

I get the part about tax dollars going to EV. IMHO, that was a kickstart, and the rebates will not last long.
I have seven cars and only one is an EV.
Drive what makes you happy.
85% efficiency don’t mean jack when so many idiots are doing everything they can to get rid of coal/gas fired plants and gas turbines in favor of all the greenie crap that doesn’t work worth a damn without a plant to push the power thru the lines…. I find it hilarious that they were all about banning all coal/gas/nuke plants in favor all carbon free energy, they shut a large number of plants down in favor of green energy only to realize that it won’t work so now nuclear and gas is the answer again, even though they are very quiet at admitting it. I work in a gas fired plant and look after a few gas turbines in case that wasn’t obvious.

I don’t hate Elon, but I have no desire to buy Tesla’s or anyone else’s electric vehicles. This is the only style Tesla I can get behind… https://m.youtube.com/shorts/fZW7kcm5A0o
