Re: GPS Tracker

I have two of them. Both require subscriptions. I can't imagine how you would communicate with a tracker unless you have a subscription service. Maybe an Apple air tag...

Search u tube on the removal of the speaker in air tag.

Re: GPS Tracker

Trackers that have GPS and cell service require a subscription. Less expensive subscription trackers cost $120 to $180 up front and include subscription for the first couple years, then $20/year after that. In the long run that is pretty cheap.

An Apple air tag relies on a stranger's iPhone that has bluetooth enabled coming within bluetooth range of the tag before it's location is reported by that nearby iPhone over its cell service network, to Apple, then to the air tag owner (you). If it is the truck theif's iPhone doing the reporting, the thief will get a warning displayed on their iPhone saying an unknown air tag is moving along with them. An air tag or tile is not a tracking device with GPS and over the air reporting, it is just a short range bluetooth sensor that entices a nearby phone to GPS locate and use its cell service to report location on the tag's behalf. Apple's warning is for safety to let people know they have an air tag planted on them and a stalker that could track them home.

I considered the options and prefer a tracker that has GPS and cell service and subscription.
