That is what the previous owner had done to my 71 short bed. Kind of did a botched job. Have since removed bumper and rolled the pan when completely redid truck. Probably better remove the tank when comes time to weld in the nuts. I really did need to say that, did I.

If he is going to weld the nuts to the brackets he should be able to do that with them off of the truck.
