I have a question about the firewall gutter that you shaved how did you guys go about the rear section weld it in and then grind it down? I have the front almost done the the back is a real pain.

3x1/16" grinding wheels in a die grinder on edge. It is the most fun you can have with your pants on Almost for got I also TIG'd that area so I would have great penitration and not alot of build up.

wow, amazing work.
That gas cap idea is awesome.... you need to make me one of those. One question, how does the filler tube attach to that setup? |

Jugernot. Do those seats put you up kinda high or is it just the pic? Nice seats those. I have the cloth version of those in my 2001 sierra.

Re: Project Lemon Drop: anything but stock!
I am curious abou the placement of the a/c and heater pass thru.
Where exactly will they feed up into the engine compartment, and how are you planning on sealing up the lines comming into the cab. Are you going to make a panel or something that covers the kick panel vent hole and then pass the lines thru it? I really like that placement and I am thinking of trying it on my project. Keep up the good work!!

Re: Project Lemon Drop: anything but stock!
The lines pass thru a bulk head fitting and they seal then selves.
Quick up date as of today. I have about 6 pin holes to fix in the cab before it goes out for sealing, one small dent in the new set and need to start body work on the tail gate. The rest of the truck had its last block sanding today down to 600grit and is ready to go out and get white epoxy sealer sprayed on. Then it comes back and gets a quick 600grit scuff then color and clear This thing turned out so damb straite that it will look unbelivable once it gets sprayed. I can't wait to finally get color on it, it's been a long road since he first bought this truck. Kevin LFD Inc. Last edited by Rokcrln; 03-17-2007 at 10:33 PM. |

Re: Project Lemon Drop: anything but stock!
It's getting closer! I just brought one load back from the rent a booth in Sac. We got it all sealed and I have two more loads to go get. Now we will let it cure for about 2 days then start 600 wet sanding and get it all ready to shoot with B/C in about 2 weeks.

Will the shaved cowl keep out all air and water? Are you going to seal off the stock kick panel vent hole or just leave it? Also, how do you plan to route the a/c and heater hoses from the bulk head into the engine bay? are they gonna pass along the inside of the fender above the inner fender, and then may turn back and go up to the compressor. Really, really nice build

Re: Project Lemon Drop: anything but stock!
It should keep all the water and air out. We are using the kick panel vents for other thing and will not seal them off.
Your description of the AC and heater hoses routing is spot on.

Re: Project Lemon Drop: anything but stock!
Hey Rock, why are you letting the sealer dry and then wetsanding, you should have just went wet on wet with the sealer, color, and then clear. I just check my base before I clear to make sure none of the sealer had trash in it. If it does I just lightly "nib" that spot and blow more color and clear.

Re: Project Lemon Drop: anything but stock!
Good luck with it. Shoot me some pics when you get it done. I am just finishing up my neighbors Harley Electra Glide, I changed the color to Black. Blocked it from start to finish, shaved the rear fender, aftermarket front fender bodyworked completely front to back, side to side and then wet sanded with 1500 then 2000 and buffed with a 3" mini buffer. Whew, I am ready to get done with that thing.

Re: Project Lemon Drop: anything but stock!
I know the pictures really do not show how nice it looks in person. I can't wait to make it back over on Sunday to see what it looks like. Hard to believe that after a SEVEN YEAR construction it will finally have some paint on it. Yeah.

Hey Kevin,
Why did you cover up the wiper holes on the cowl? Is this one of those yet to be revealed mods? |
