how big of a deal is it to drill holes for mounting accessories on the frame after it has been powdercoated?

I wouldn't recommend it. It will end up chipping on you around where you drill it. It will be more work but it would be better to build it and then disassemble for powder coat. That's what I'm doing anyway.

from what i hear if it is a good powdercoat you should have cracks after drilling!

I recently had to drill some holes in my powdercoated frame. I didn't have any chipping, but I was really careful and used incremental drill sizes to "sneak up" on the size I needed.

Put masking tape where you are going to drill then take a file or sandpaper to deburr it before you pull the tape off.

hm.... alright,
im just trying to put off buying all the air suspension parts (compressors/tanks) for a while so that my bank account doesn't read 0's after like a week of buying parts... but i guess it might make more sense to just buy it all now to save money for fixing a powdercoating mess later on...

I had my frame and suspension parts powdercoated before I bought my bags and stuff. It is so much nicer to work on a clean chassis instead of a dirty rusty mess.
However, if I had to do it over again, I would probably get all my parts first, assemble everything to check fit, drill any necessary holes, and basically do any frame modifications before I had the frame coated. It's a pain to have to be so careful with something so big and cumbersome. Flipping my frame over to drill mounting holes for the air bags last week was a chore. The next truck I build will have the frame powdercoated last!

what?!? :-)
actually, i didn't mean to this time (not that i ever do it maliciously) but ive got a different thread with a simliar name, with a similar topic, and just got a little confused.... besides, why clutter the board with new posts, when people are already talking about what i need to know on this one... as long as you don't interfere with someone elses question..
