Since last December. My dad picked be up from school one day and said we're buying a truck. One I first saw it I guess you could say I fell in love. Drove the truck home two days later and I remember laughing the whole way home about what we just bought. The rust was so bad in the right rocker, I could see the road. I haven't drove it since, it's in piece's due to the frame-off restoration I'm doing with my dad and cousin. Hope to be done by next summer, I really miss it.

Fell In love with these trucks at the age of 16 from a picture in a magazine and pretty much made it my mission for my first vehicle to be one. Didn't end up finding the '69 till the middle of summer 2001 when I was 21. Been drivin' 'er ever since...

I have loved older trucks since I was a teenager.My first truck was a circa 1949-5 window chevy.I purchased many trucks that were 63-66.My first truck that I really loved was my Grandpa's 69 chevy 1/2 ton when I was 17 years old.I have always looked up to my Grandfather in so many ways.He has an influence on me to this day even though he passed away back in 83.He was a farmer all his life and the most rugged individual I have ever met in my life.He was old school for sure.A great man.

my dad bought the 72 1-t0n i have in 1978 and he owned 4 of them and 2 c/60s
so i have been around these truck most of my life the wifes longhorn was bought by her dad in 1985 and has now passed down to her I when i die the only thing that will be left are these two trucks for our kids(we are gonna spend and have fun with the rest ) |

I've been wanting one for as long as I can remember, but I fianlly got my 1972 Cheyenne Super in November of 1999 and have poured entirely too much money into it. Stolen twice, 4 engines, 6 transmissions, 2 paint jobs, and countless hours of work, but I still have it for some reason.

july 8 1971 bought a new long fleet right after gettin out of the navy drove it for about 7months put 60kmiles on it driving back an forth from ny to the midwest hauling modela an t bodies traded it in for a van in jan 72

Bought my first one in 1976, 1970 Texas Power and light 6cyl 2 speed power glide short step. Put a 327 in it and went through tires like mad. Pictures went in the high school annual, whats funny so did my sons 1969.

When I was growing up, my dad built houses for a living, and several of the guys he worked with had 67-72 trucks. My dad always had cheap trucks. He drove one of those VW trucks that looked like a VW bus with the back chopped off. He also had a little '70s Toyota. Compared to his trucks, the 67-72 trucks seemed really nice. I remember riding in a '72 truck when I was fairly young thinking that the gas tank must be huge if the gas gauge is so big.
My first vehicle was a 67 short step truck that I restored in high school. I drove it for several years and then decided I wanted a 72 short fleet instead. I sold the 67 to a really nice guy in Calgary, AB (Deuce) and bought a 72 that I plan to restore in a few years. |

This is great!!I don`t care if you never rode in one`til yesterday,this is what I wanted to hear.I figured I wasn`t the only one that would find it interesting.I actually always loved all the earlier models and have built a few over the years.I always thought of these as a good practicle truck(still do)that could double as a cool ride.Many years have passed and they`ve only proven it more as the years go by.From daily drivers to incredible pieces of art.You gotta love`em.

I think I was hooked on 67-72 back in 1969 when I saw my uncle's 69 Cheyenne. I was too young to drive back then, but I wanted one ever since. I got my 70 GMC a couple years ago. Drove it for about 6 months before it went into the shop. Now I've just started driving it again.

I bought a '58 when I was 15, but she needed too much work to be a DD, so I bought a '67 when I turned 16. Turned 16 in late '96, didn't want to drive her in the NY snowbelt winters, so it became my DD in the summer of '97. drove it summers until '00, parked it during college, then drove it my senior year last year. Tranny blew last feb.... been collecting parts....

My first car was a 64 F___ stepside.
I had a 96 GMC swb truck and have always like the lines of the 67-72 trucks. Earlier this year I decided that it would be a good idea to have a pickup so I could move things around and ocasionaly haul my dirt bike out to some place where I could ride it. I spotted a baby blue 68 C-10 lwb truck on the ay home from work one day and spent the next couple of weeks tying to contact the owner. (The truck is still there 6 months later, so I am apperantly not the only one who never got a phone call returned.) I looked at another 68 from a newspaper ad.. but it was a real pig. I had mucho rust, a non-running inline, 4 flat tires and at least a ton (seriously) of trash in the bed. I found this one and became enamoured of it. Got it in June and have been healing it since. I did eventualy realize that I made an emotional purchase as I have seen trucks with better bodies for less on the board, but it does have a freshly rebuilt 73 vintage 350, a good drivetrain, 4 new tires/wheels and some hope. lol My current plans are to make it look presentable and add things (like the engine buildup, interior upgrades, etc.) that can be removed later. Since the bed is a waste, the cab will need to come off to be fixed properly and there are isses here and there with the frame; I plan to ($$ and garage space neded) get a rolling wreck swb and build a new truck from scratch, using this one as a rolling parts bin in the meantime.

Owned my '69 since '90. Used it as a daily driver for a while. Now just a pleasure ride. Truck was a frame off resto when I bought it with 5,000 miles on resto. Now has a little over 35,000 on it. Starting some upgrades and repaint. Been around these trucks since youth. Learned to drive in a '66 w/ 3 on the tree and 327. I guess that's why I still love the 3 on the tree in the '69. (Gives a little security-Wife can't find first) Have no intentions of selling the truck and plan to build it to suit one person-Me. I still get a kick when I just take it out to sling fluid around.

Although I was born after they were built, I've always like the body lines. The '73's and up just turned me off. We never owned one until the early/mid-90's when we bought a rusted out '69 C-10 250/3spd short step truck to use on the farm. Gave $200 cash and towed it home. Got the brakes fixed and added a stronger bumper. Used the old girl to haul hay wagons, fertilizer buggies, gravity wagons and other general use on the farm. We often chain it up in the fall and run them on until the following spring. Usually for feeding cattle and hauling fire wood. Often we'd haul huge loads of wood out with the pumpkin draging in the mud and it just didn't quit! Considering that this was ALOT older than the FERDs we had, was used 50x harder, but yet required 75% less attention we were hooked.
We've since added and sold alot since then. I currently have 2, a '69 GMC 3500 dump truck with a 305V6/4spd in decent original shape, and a '71 C-20 I repowered with a Cummins saving alot of money over buying a newer Dodge. My brother has a '69 C-10, a '70 K-10, and the truck I mention above. I am currently looking for another decent C-20 to build a 4x4 2-ton truck to haul the stock trailer. My fondest memory is after we got that '69 above running, was driving it down the main drag in our small town and shifting that 3 on the tree! It had a non-syncro 3 spd from and older truck in it..............And although we were used to semi's without syncro's, we still couldn't get our shift timing down right............All you heard was the straight piped 6, vroooooooooooooom, grrrrrrrr, grrrrrr, vroooooooooooooom, grrrrrrrr, grrrrrrr, vrooooooooom. It didn't take much to amuse the locals, most were out on their porches laughing themselves silly

My first one was in 76 when I started to learn to drive. I actually got my license in Dad's 69 GMC Longhorn(purchased new) which later became mine. I always wanted another and really missed the old truck. Bought a 72 GMC back in 1990 and used it for a daily driver till recently. I still use it on occasion but hope to bring it back to being a daily driver again.

I bought my 68 Gold anv 396 eng 400 trans LWB in 1969, it had 4000. miles on it the pre owner would't drive it in the rain. I put 100,000. miles on it,sold it to my friend in 1979 for $1950.00 . I bought it back 2 years ago for $1200.00, I am now in the process of restoring it got all the eng ,trans &runing gear done now working on the body.

My first was a 1971 lwb, 3 spd, 307 that I got for my first ride in 1981. Later got a 1972 2wd blazer restored it then sold it. Wish I still had that one. Now I've got a 68 swb and a 72 burb.

Since I could reach the pedals! My dad had a 67 4X4 (he was a Montana rancher) but I was only 9 at the time. Used to pile stuff on the seats to see over the dash (through the steering wheel). I was probably about 12 when I got to drive it on the ranch by myself.
