UPDATE: I was able to get one of bolts out via a stripped bolt extractor set and a cheater bar. The other one is still a no go. There isn't much of the head left to bite into. I thought about grinding the head off to remove the flexplate and trying to drill out what's left of the bolt. I'm just nervous about drilling near the crankshaft. Thank you all very much for your help. I really appreciate all the replys/ideas!

Use the propane torch as suggested. If the bolts were loctited, the heat will cause the loctite to release. It will also help to break the bolts loose. Hold the flame on the head of the bolt for a good long while. A propane torch does'nt get super hot so it won't hurt anything. You may want to replace the rear main seal just as a precaution though.

sh!t happens. now you just have to grin and bear it. either remove the head and drill it out or find someone with a oxy-acetelyn torch. if you choose the latter heat that sucker up to just before it melts. then let it cool by itself. then it should come out with a special socket as mentioned earlier. (the heat changes the bolt's molecular structure without affecting the crank or flexplate if you use enough heat and it sinks in fast)

If you have to drill the bolt out, grind a flat on whats left, use a good center punch, then take a left handed drillbit and drill the rest out. That will help in turning the old bolt out and not back in.

It's probably going to sound dumb but why not weld a nut on top so that you could use an impact wrench. You'd probably have to weld little by little but I don't know what might be harmed with that amount of heat.I have done this with lug nut but they are not that sensitive to heat once you replace the nut and lug.
