The only drawback I see to the "new" LS7's is they are butt ugly motors. All that technology, sensors, ect., has forced Chevy to cover nearly the entire top of the motor with a plastic cover. Definately a case where function trumps form.
Still, one SURE would look good inbetween FarmTruk's framerails

That is the correct part number, and is just about at dead dealer cost so they must have bought a truckload to sell it for that! It is a steal if you want a bucket full of power that idles nice and gets close to 30MPG on the highway...with foot out of it of course!

Seems I seen some engine same as this with the covers for sale for Marine application at a fishing commuity in Alaska. This would be a decent power for a bow picker. may be a couple of them . Where are the seattle fisherman they should have an idea .

If I was going to do it with the new LS7 I would look for the complete car in a write-off. Buying the engine and then trying to hunt down all the extras would be very time consuming and costly, not to mention the hair pulling. I wanted to keep mine as clean as possible, but still functional. This is as old school as it gets, Carb, Intake, fire , exhaust = horsepower. I did have to hog the heads out before i dropped it in tho. Probably pushin 550-600hp on avegas.

I'd really like mine to turn out half that nice. That one will be my guide. I really like the way all the hoses, wiring and lines are neatly routed along the engine bay, leaving a clear clean look at the motor. I'll have fuel injectors on billet fuel rails and a throttle body instead of a carb hiding under the air filter.

I your seriously looking for a old LS7 they do pop up on ebay quite frequently. The only drawback is the 12.25-1 compression. A little high for today's gasoline. Might want to check the LS6 out???

I have a 383 that is waiting to be installed in my 82 RX-7 (whenever i find the time), and it will be a monster in that itty bitty car...
If only i could get my hands on a LS7... I would essentially have a 500hp go kart

You know, the 2004 Goats came with the LS6. They didn't sell that well once everyone found out that the 05s were getting the LS2.

Why not just buy a escalade motor and spend about 2 grand on it and make more hp and torque for around $3200.00? My Dad had the escalade motor in his 69 camaro and my brother just put one and a t-56 in his 99 RCSB chevy and they are very very scary rides. My brothers truck will spin the tires all the way to 4th gear. Both motors have cams, valve springs, ls-6 intakes, corvette throttle bodies, etc and they have less than 2 grand in the motors which make a little over 400hp and still get 20 + mpg. You could spend another $1000 and have a 500 + hp motor. Ls1's are good but the 6.0's are better. Just my 2 cents.
