Re: Show me your Mig Welds!!!
Wow! THanks for all of the responses guys!! I have been reading them all and trying to use what I can. I have been welding all the holes up on the firewall of the '56 today. I have about 13 knocked out with about 9 more to go. I thougt about the copper or brass backing and tried something out, I taped a penny on the back side using duct tape and it seems to work pretty good. I also tried using penny nails (non galvanized or coated) and holding the nail in place with pliers while tacking in place, then snipping off the nail itself and welding the rest in. But to be honest the thing that seems to work best for me is thumbtacks. Yes that's right thumbtacks. They seem to fit most of the holes and weld in rather easy. The stick part usually burns off when welding. I have been carefully watching the back side and these seem to look the best on the back side too. I'll post pics when I'm done. Now it's time to go finish! THank you all for all of the advice! I will learn and become better!
Shawn

Go Gas!! That's oxy cetlene that is!!! Much stronger weld, flatter and a whole lot more economical too.
