Man.... that SUCKS!
One question that no one has asked... is that tree on YOUR property... or CITY property... you may get to make a claim on the city.

Even if its the city's tree you are responsible for the care and damage they cause at least round here. We had real bad ice storm a few years back and part of my oak tree landed on my neighbors work truck. The city just laughed at me when I asked them to cover the damages. My homeowners did cover it thank god.

Thats it. In soldarity and protest i'm not going to recycle a single sheet of paper for the rest of the year. It all goes in the garbage baby!! That'll teach those trees not to FU@@ with our trucks. With all those damn Fords out there.

bought if from a shop not too far from here in fremont. the owner ran a 6k tab up and couldnt come up with the cash to pay it off. the truck had been his dads and his dad died a couple of yrs back and the son and his brother were fighting over it. I met the mom who was about 75 and got some nice stories from her. kind of a sad story.

Re: Honey, the just tree fell on your new truck...

Man that SUCKS!!! That shouldn't happen to such a nice truck! I thought there were laws against it! I'd have to go Texas Chainsaw Massacre on that tree if it were me! I'd make Leatherface look like an amatuer by the time that I got done with that tree!

Good luck with the rebuild.I will be watching here for progress pics when you start rebuilding. I was thinking the same thing about the windshield. Looks like it missed it by the pictures that you posted. The doors look like they can be saved as well. You should be able to do a roof swap and save the rest of your cab.

I'm with these guys on the homeowners policy. I'd check first and see who is actually liable first, your homeowners insurance, or the city that you live in. That tree just might be out far enough that it could be the city's resposibility. Anyway, sorry to hear about your truck and keep us posted on what happens. ...Joe

Re: Honey, the just tree fell on your new truck...

Hey guys thanks for the sympathy and encouragement! Now for the even sadder part. My homeowners ins co told me today no go for property damage coverage because they have an exclusion for vehicles. When I bought the truck last month and added it to my auto policy, I put only liability on it. For some reason I didnt add comp If I had done that, that I wouldve had 2500 coverage which wouldve helped. They needed an appraisal for any more value and to add collision because of the age. So every week I think I gotta do this and its 5 wks later and I never get around to the the appraisal (you know how it goes) Big mistake on my part but who woulda thunk your truck could get totaled in front of your house. As they say sh__ happens. #@$#%$@

Re: Honey, the just tree fell on your new truck...

I think there is a very good condition (near perfect) cab for sale in the Sacramento Craigslist for $500. It has no rust and has all the AC holes, etc. Here's a link.

Sorry about your horrible loss, by the way.

Re: Honey, the just tree fell on your new truck...

my heart feels more crushed than your cab right now... that is such a shame to see a classic vehicle survive all these years, only to be randomly sqwushed by a freak accident.

See, I told you that going with woodgrain trim wasn't going to look good.

I feel for you... that ready does bite the big one... hopefully you will be able to get it fixed soon.

Man!! That sucks! That image is so saddening to me if you weren't in CA I would give a good cab off of 1 of my parts trucks to replace it! I can't imagine how you felt when you pulled up and saw that.
