Re: I got new (to me!) 65
Jon,
hey if you're interested in doing discs up front I still have that front end you saw. Also found stock height spindles in the back of the burb if you aren't into the drop ones.. Also have a later model 10 bolt 5 lug rear if you're thinking or need to do a 5 lug. Always up for some horse trading too. LMK. I've been trying to swing by but it's usually after work and I think you're already off to work. Sun/Mon I'll try again. Josh

Re: I got new (to me!) 65
well, here is a pic of the front together...
I have been driving this for a week now, and it works great. I got the original cowl extension for the right side, and it still had the original antenna on it! I plugged it in , and I have am radio! soon I will replace the passenger bedside, and kdrodworks hooked me up with a NICE tailgate. after that it will be done for a while: while I work on my other projects. |

Re: I got new (to me!) 65
here is the info lilred66 sent me... but I have no way to spray, other than rattle can.
Green, Light - Chevrolet RPO Color #503 DuPont #4728-L Rinshed-Mason #A-1844 Ditzler #43523 I found the following information: Green, Light - Chevrolet RPO Color #503 DuPont #4728-L Rinshed-Mason #A-1844 Ditzler #43523 I would take a panel to your local auto paint store for color matching, along with this information. Due to the age and weathering of the sheet metal, you may not be able to match it, but these are the colors I pulled from the Chevrolet Truck Data Book. I've got a nice SATA gun and a couple of others too I'm sure one of them would work on your truck jon.

Re: I got new (to me!) 65
well, I did something to this besides drive it!
here is the old crashed up box and gate: the right has the obvious damage, and the left was damaged in 2 spots, it was compressed from the telephone pole hit on the gate, and was also bent up from another collision with the step bumper. the gate and rear sill were wiped out by the telephone pole hit.

Re: I got new (to me!) 65
now for all the new parts:
a 60-62 bedside right, a 63 bedside left , a 66 rear cross sill, and a good gate (thanks KD) I also put a different step bumper on it, since I tore up my other one trying to pull a tree out of the ground ( I will be more careful with this one)

Re: I got new (to me!) 65
so here's a couple things I ran into with using different year bedsides:
the 65 has an extra hole right at the front for the front bed panel. the 62 has the second cross brace in a different spot(see red marks), so I will have to drill and fill there. at one point some one installed an air gate on the right bedside- thus the 6 extra holes- so sometime I will have to fill all those in. ... and the neat metal sculpture created by welding every broken bed bolt to the next to facillitate thier removal!
